I need help.

While at Zenkaikon, I realized how difficult it would be to do a live show from the floor of the convention with my PowerPC Mac Mini (that doesn't have WiFi). So, instead of trying to drag my Mac, Monitor, and recording equipment from down my hotel room, try to find enough open outlets and an Ethernet port to connect to the internet, I decided to try a live show from my room (which failed on Friday night IMHO).

And, within a week of returning from Zenkaikon, my tiny Mac Mini's hard drive started giving me some grief, and I can't open the case without resorting to a really sharp putty knife, I definetly need a new computer.

If I had a nice portable computer, it would be a whole lot easier to do a live show from an anime convention show floor.

Here's what I'm currently looking at:

  1. The OLPC. It's $399 for two laptops. You keep one, and the other goes to help educate a child in need. You can find out more at LaptopGiving.org. Unfortunetaly, this offer ends at the end of the year, so if I miss that, I'm also looking at:
  2. The Asus EEE PC 4G. It's an ultra portable linux based laptop which, like the OLPC, would be a machine good enough for Skype and doing the show's web stuff. But what I'm really looking at is:
  3. A MacBook which will be able to run all the software I currently run on my Mac Mini, but it costs a whopping $1,099.00 at the moment.

If you want to help me purchase any of these computers (especially a nice, shiny MacBook) so I can have a working computer and record live shows from convention floors (and not have to pack more bags than I want to), feel free to donate to the cause by clicking the button below.

Thanks for helping out.
